Section 272
Tasks to be performed by the judge himself

(1) Among the duties performed by the court according to this code, the following duties shall be performed by the judge himself:-
(a) Taking statements of parties,
(b) administering oaths to witnesses,
(c) To make affidavits of witnesses,
(d) making interim or interim orders,
(e) To draw up orders for matters to be decided in the case,
(f) making orders relating to the taking of evidence,
(g) Conduct preliminary and pre-trial hearings of the case,
(h) Hearing,
(j) To arrange settlement,
(j) to make a judgment or make any final order.
(2) Notwithstanding anything written in sub-section (1), for the purpose of recording a statement or affidavit, the judge may take the assistance of at least gazetted first grade staff and if not gazetted second grade staff as long as they are available in the court.
